I went to visit my friend in Indianapolis AND to see a Colts game this year (yes, both!). While in Indy, every time I saw someone with a Colts hat or shirt on I would say, "Go Colts". They would look at me like, "Uh, duh". I kept forgetting that I was in Colts Country and not Southern Cal. In my hometown of Huntington Beach I might see one or two other Colts fans a year wearing the team gear. When we see each other we yell "Go Colts" and do a high five and maybe even a chest bump. Well, not really a chest bump but that would be fun.
When I watched my Colts win the AFC Championship game and I must have gotten 30 texts from all of my dear friends who knew I was on the couch cheering my team on. That is another aspect of sports that I love. When you know a friend is rooting for a team you kind of have a kindred spirit with them knowing how much they want their team to win. If their team loses, you feel their pain.
I am a P.E. teacher and I talk about the Colts every day with my classes, (during the playoffs at least). It is so fun to banter with the kids about it and hear the students who are rooting with me and the students who are rooting for the Saints or Jets because their Mom or Dad is a fan. I can just imagine them sitting in front of the T.V. watching together and having that same kind of bond my daughter and I have over the Colts. Some students have actually asked," If I root for the Colts will you give me extra credit?"
So now I have to wait a WHOLE week to see my team and Peyton Manning play in Super Bowl 44 and I can hardly stand it! I am so excited I feel like a kid before Christmas. I have vowed to wear something "Colts" to school every day for the next 2 weeks. My students can't believe I have that much Colts stuff! I reminded them I was a COLTS FANATIC!!!
Go Colts!
